San Diego SEAL Tours runs an amphibious fleet: tour vessels that live a double life on city streets and in salt water, and few machines work harder. Nautilus handles fitting, fabrication, mechanical work, and refurbishment across the fleet — work that only counts if the vessel makes its morning departure.
The fleet taught us how a commercial operator counts cost: the repair quote is rarely the biggest number — the days out of service are. So we plan before we cut, opening a vessel up only once; we weld it once, to qualified procedures; and we come to the boat when a repair doesn't need a haul-out.
Keeping the current fleet running also showed us exactly where these machines break. That insight became a design study for a next-generation, all-electric amphibious platform — purpose-built for land and sea rather than adapted from a legacy hull, and developed with marine engineers, battery technology experts, and amphibious vehicle specialists.
